Tudor Minute October 31: The Reformation Begins

by Heather  - October 31, 2018

Hey, this is Heather from the Renaissance English History Podcast, and this is your Tudor Minute for October 31.

Today marks the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther wrote to the Archbishop of Mainz, and the Bishop of Brandenburg, protesting against the sale of indulgences in the Catholic church. One chronicler said that he then also nailed a copy to the church in Wittenberg, being filled with just passion and devoutness, and wanting to share his righteous anger with the rest of his community. Either way, this one little man set into motion a series of events that would overtake him and change the world forever.

If you missed the Reformation Month series I did on the Renaissance English History Podcast, now would be a good time to catch up. There are also Halloween episodes on the podcast page, so you can choose which holiday you want to celebrate today.

That’s your Tudor Minute. Remember you can dive deeper into life in 16th century England through the Renaissance English History Podcast at englandcast.com.
